Ruairidh Gray and Ciorstaidh Beaton
Ruairidh Gray is an award-winning Gàidhlig singer hailing from the village of Daliburgh on the Island of South Uist.
In October of 2022 he became the second only person to have won both the “Bonn Òr a Chomainn” and the “Bonn Òr an t-Seann Nòs” at the Royal National Mòd which was held in Perth. Later on that very same year, he was voted “MG ALBA Gaelic Singer of the Year” at the “MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards”, celebrating its 20th year in Dundee’s Caird Hall.
He is currently undertaking his 4th year of studies on the Traditional Music course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland under the tutelage of Miss. Iseabail T. MacDonald, of Daliburgh and Glasgow.
A regular face and voice on both BBC ALBA and BBC Radio Nan Gaidheal, Ruairidh boasts a wide and versatile skill set with regard to broadcasting and performance. He is as comfortable behind a podium or broadcasting desk as he is a microphone.
Ruairidh has performed to a wide variety of audiences across Europe. From the small village halls of the West Coast of Scotland to the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. Although the difference in these engagements is staggering and demanding, each performance is delivered with the same high-powered, captivating, and highly personal energy which Ruairidh has become known for.
